Mind over Matter
The energy fields of brain waves and the matter of neural pathways are in a constantly evolving dance. When consciousness changes the brain, brain waves change and different neural pathways are engaged. The extremes are love and fear. When we are in a state of fear, our alpha bridge disappears. We may still have theta and delta but we are cut off from the resources of our subconscious mind and its connection with the universal whole. Beta waves flood the fearful brain. It’s in survival mode.
excerpt from Mind to Matter by Dawson Church
I absolutely loved this book by Dawson Church as it explains so clearly and so easily the power of the mind over the body and frankly the affect our emotions and experiences have over our lives because of our perceptions at the time of the event and the subsequent beliefs that we take on board because of the experience.
We all have baggage right!! The question is however, how long more do you want or need to carry yours around for and how well is it, or isn’t it, serving you? Slowly but surely this conversation is now opening up even in conventional fields of allopathic medicine. There has always been a “knowing” out there that stress, which let’s face it, comes from events and experiences that cause us to have powerful thoughts and feelings, can and does affect us deeply on an emotional and physical level. Our bodies and our energy system are beacons for all that happens to us throughout our lives. If we face and process these experiences and emotions, then they go through us, no longer affect us and settle, as Dr Joe Dispenza puts it, as “wisdom that resides in our soul”.
If we don’t however, which is often the case, and I believe, part of the human condition, we can live a rather compromised life. What we are here to do as souls or spirits embodied, is to learn from everything that comes into our lives. This is our mission…should we choose to accept it.. It is the proverbial road less travelled but more and more we are being confronted with this question. When something happens, world pandemic, you lose your job, you lose your relationship, you lose your health, you lose you spark or your joy whatever it is, you have a choice. Do you just accept this and settle into it or do you choose the road less travelled and open to what it is teaching you.
We may feel that this is the more difficult path. Perhaps the first step is the hard one but once we take it, then we open to possibilities that might not have presented themselves were we to “settle”. As Dawson Church says “When we are in a state of fear, our alpha bridge disappears.” When that bridge disappears, know that it is not gone forever, it is simply veiled under your experience or trauma, under your symptoms. When you face that trauma, face that experience, face the challenge you absolutely have the power to adjust the beliefs that it created in you.
The natural question might be, “Ok then, how do I “unveil" the Alpha mind?” There are many ways to approach this and many guides, teachers and modalities along the way. RTT, EFT, Energy Medicine, Meditation, Yoga, Hypnosis, Mindfulness, among others. This Alpha state is a natural state that our minds are born to connect to. It is the place where we go right before we drop into sleep at night and upon awakening in the morning. It is the place we create from.
A very simple practice to do, that I highly recommend, is to reflect on what it is that you want to create or experience in your life. What do you want to change? Finances, health, relationship, confidence, self-belief, what is it that you are being called to consider? What is it that you want?. In this practice, as I often say to my clients, go big or go home. The sky is the limit! You are asking yourself what do I want if there were no limits and if everything were available to me. Write it down, be creative, get excited, dream big. Write it down!
Then…. every night , just as sleep is about to envelope you, recall this vision, see it clearly, feel the feelings you will have once it becomes your reality and let go into sleep having this be the last thing your mind “sees”. This will be recorded in your Alpha brain wave state and will then connect to Universal consciousness and sooner or later you will invite this into your life.
You can do this again upon awakening in the morning, catch yourself when the habit, that most of us have, to think about the challenges of the day or your life or current situation starts to invade your awareness. Perhaps the habit of picking up your phone, checking texts, emails, social media. Catch yourself and imagine a giant STOP sign in your mind, halting the journey down the path you know so well and direct your mind to the one that is less known but with practice is becoming familiar. Your mind learns by repetition and the more you repeat a practice the more familiar it becomes and the more it begins to manifest into the life that you want to realize. Embrace the process.
